This ELER is brought to you not only with the power of The Gimp, but also the power of Inkscape. It makes working with the text and bubbles SO much easier. Also, I can put bubbles outside the edges of the panes now: did you notice that?

Someone wrote more Monty Python inspired geek jokery on Groklaw that made me chuckle. Jim Thompson wrote another MP-esque ELER script but I’m saving it for another day.

I’ve finally gotten around to providing some source files for ELER too. Everything needed to make this episode is available in the eler-source directory in a bzipped tarball. I’ll make more source files available slowly but surely. They are under the same Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike license, so basically you can modify them any way you like but the result must have the same license and credits (just link to this website). You can get the free-of-cost DigitalStrip font from Blambot. I’d love to see anything you create, so please do e-mail them along to me.

If thats bjarne it may be a reference to some recent lkml traffic on C++ based modules.

One might deduce that the image is flipped in the lower two panels because Linus is facing the other direction.

Just a thought.

Also, Linus’s eyebrows are free-floating around his forehead again. I wonder how he does that, it would be an awesome skill to have at parties.

Normal shirts dont change direction when the wearer turns to the left versus the right. It seems obvious enough the entire linus image was mirrored rather than recreated. But the continuity error due to that is still amusing. Also note this is the first ELER where linus faces two different directions in the same strip.

My post was meant more for humour. Yes, it is plainly obvious that Linus was cut-n-pasted to face the other direction.

I still want to know how to make my eyebrows float around my forehead like that.

OrangeSlice: if you looked at the source files, you’d see how Linus does it. It’s pretty easy – just have each eyebrow as a separate layer and you can move them around at will. For parties, you just need to power up your layers in a really hot cup of tea first to make sure they don’t run out of steam halfway.

Hey, now that you’ve published “the source” for eler, maybe you should set up an autotools environment so that everybody can build the episodes ;-P
